CASSELBERRY, FL. The Rotary Club of Casselberry presents The World’s Festival 2010 on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the Metro Life Auditorium, 910 Winter Park Drive, Casselberry, Florida 32707, located near the mega-intersection of SR 436 and Red Bug Lake Rd.
The purpose of the World’s Festival is to bring together our diverse community to advance cultural understanding and fellowship by celebrating our world’s culture. This event is FREE admission to the public.
The World's Festival 2010 is pleased to introduce nine exciting performances of different cultures scheduled to perform four continuous hours in a premier concert hall for the benefit of families in the community. Opening the Festival will be the Lion Dance of Asia and the sounding of the Shofar of Israel.
Featured performances will be the Taiko Drummers of Japan; the teenage professional acrobats of Dragon-Legend Inc. from China; folk dances of India; the most ancient art form from Middle-East known as the Belly Dance as performed by the women and children of Jolie's Elements of Dance; Songs and Hula dances of the different Polynesian islands by Halau Hula O Kaleooka'iwa; Mexican folk dances by Mexico Magico; Panamanian traditional dances by Sentimiento Panameno; Irish folk dances by Tir Na Greine; and Spanish Flamenco dance by the Flamenco Del Sol Dance Academy. All the men, women and children in these troupes will be adorned in their brilliant traditional costumes which provides a truly exotic display that will delight the whole family.
Prior to the performances, Sampler Workshops will be conducted by some of the performers. A variety of ethnic cuisines and cultural art and craft exhibitions will be present for all to enjoy. This is an excellent opportunty for interested young people to closely observe how the performers prepare and execute their craft in a classroom setting.
Students from local schools will be showcased in an Art Contest that celebrates world culture with winning submissions displayed in auditorium lobby. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are encouraged to earn patches and geography class students are encouraged to earn extra credit for volunteering and attending the event.
